Red flags

  • Pollution insurance, $1 million. Unusual for mowing work, and many small crews do not carry it.
  • Herbicide spraying is required. Expect to need an FDACS pesticide applicator license.
  • Initial cleanup includes trash. Tires and debris must be hauled off, so price in dump fees.

Good signs for a small crew

  • Small lots that standard mowers and trimmers can handle.
  • Quick Quote format: no notarized forms, just acknowledgments and four attachments.
  • No bond, and steady work for eleven months.

Why it scored this way

A well-sized job for a small crew, with simple paperwork and no bond. It is not a clear Go because the pollution insurance and pesticide license will rule out many small shops, and the initial cleanup makes the first visits hard to price.

Why crews pass on good work

The bid is usually 60 pages to say "mow these lots twice a month."

Too much to read

Insurance limits, licenses, and deal-breakers are buried deep in the document. Most owners are on a mower all day and don't have an evening to spare for page 41.

Too easy to miss something

One unsigned affidavit, a name that doesn't match Sunbiz, or a missed addendum can get an otherwise good bid thrown out at opening.

Hard to know if it's worth it

Some jobs need pollution insurance, a bond, or a crew twice your size. Knowing that in two minutes instead of two hours is half the battle.

How it works

Three steps, and you stay in charge.

Step 1

We find and score the bids

Every week we review grounds and landscaping solicitations from the counties, cities, school districts, and community development districts in our area. Each one gets a Bid Card with a Go, Maybe, or No-Go score and the reasons behind it.

Step 2

You pick the ones worth chasing

Tell us which bid you want. We confirm it fits your crew, licenses, and insurance before any work starts, so you never pay to chase a job you can't win.

Step 3

We build the packet, you submit

We fill in the forms from your company profile, flag what needs a signature or notary, track addenda, and give you a pricing worksheet and a deadline calendar. You set the price and turn it in.
